Our Story: A Passion for Garden Rooms
The journey of The Garden Room Guide is more than just a guide; it’s a tale of our enduring love affair with garden rooms and annexes. From their varied styles to their endless possibilities, our fascination has been the driving force of our journey. We firmly believe that every home is enhanced by the addition of a well-designed, insulated garden room.
Our story began in the late 1990s with our first project: a fully insulated, double-glazed playhouse, complete with a handmade kitchen, for our client’s grandchildren. This project ignited our passion for creating bespoke, insulated outdoor buildings, leading to numerous unique and fulfilling projects, including appearances at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show.
However, life threw a curveball with an unexpected accident, halting our hands-on work. But fate had other plans. In 2009, a chance conversation ignited a new spark: “You have so much knowledge about garden rooms; why not share it?” And so, we turned to blogging. With a domain and website in place, we began sharing our insights into garden room design and the buying process, officially launching The Garden Room Guide in October 2009.
Fourteen years on, our enthusiasm for these versatile garden buildings continues to flourish. We are constantly inspired by the evolution of garden room design and the innovative use of materials and space, even in the most compact gardens.
