With nearly two decades of experience, Garden Spaces is one of the UK’s most established names in bespoke garden building design. Their expertise extends to garden gyms, wellness rooms, and golf simulator suites, each individually crafted to reflect the client’s goals, equipment needs, and garden setting.
Every project begins with a detailed consultation to define size, layout, and specification. The team works closely with clients to create practical yet stylish spaces that support daily routines — from dedicated workout rooms to wellness retreats with integrated changing or shower facilities. For sports enthusiasts, golf simulator rooms can be enhanced with adjoining seating or bar areas for a clubhouse-style experience.
Built with a Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) core, each building delivers excellent strength, stability, and insulation. Designs can feature taller mono-pitched roofs or Apex dual-pitched structures with vaulted ceilings for a greater sense of height and openness, making them well-suited to dynamic exercise or relaxation environments.

Design
Every building is fully bespoke, with a wide range of cladding, glazing, and finish options. Clients can choose from Western Red Cedar, Thermowood, composite cladding, resin render, or stone finishes, complemented by aluminium or uPVC doors and windows in modern tones.
Inside, plastered and decorated walls are paired with specialist flooring suitable for gym or spa use. Lighting, heating, and ventilation are specified for comfort, and electrical packages can include AV systems, data cabling, and hardwired internet. Changing rooms, shower rooms, and storage areas can be incorporated as part of the layout, with every detail managed through their turnkey service.
Size & Layouts
Garden Spaces offers gym and wellness buildings in small to extra-large footprints, tailoring each to the garden’s proportions and intended use. Layouts can include changing rooms, shower areas, or equipment zones, while larger designs can integrate multi-room configurations or outdoor seating areas. All projects are designed for Permitted Development compliance, with planning applications managed where additional height or scale is required.
ROOFLINES
Garden Spaces offers both mono-pitched and dual-pitched designs. The 2.5m mono-pitched range complies with Permitted Development, while taller mono-pitched options are available where extra ceiling height is needed for gym equipment or simulators. The Apex dual-pitched range creates vaulted interiors with the option of gable glazing and roof windows, adding space and light ideal for active or wellness use.
APPROVAL PROCESS
Garden Spaces designs with Permitted Development in mind but is experienced in managing planning approval for taller buildings. Their turnkey approach includes Building Regulation compliance for projects requiring plumbing or over 30sqm of internal floor space, with full Building Control sign-off included.
SERVICE
Through their ‘One Stop Shop’ turnkey service, Garden Spaces manages every stage — from design and foundations to final electrical and plumbing connections. The process is fully project-managed, ensuring each building is handed over as a complete, ready-to-use gym or wellness space.
STRUCTURE
All Garden Spaces buildings use a SIPs construction system, providing a robust and thermally efficient shell that performs well year-round. Exterior finishes include timber, composite boards, render, or cement particle panels, paired with EPDM or living Sedum roofs for a modern finish and enhanced insulation. Interiors are fully finished, with options for underfloor heating, air conditioning, or smart Wi-Fi controls.
The SIPs structure also offers excellent acoustic performance, and optional upgrade packages are available for enhanced sound control — ideal for gym audio systems or simulator setups.
SITE CHALLENGES
Garden Spaces has extensive experience working on sloping ground, using ground screw foundations for stability. They can design around irregular plots or existing trees, collaborating with arborists where Tree Preservation Orders apply, ensuring each building integrates naturally into its surroundings.
